Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne
In January Switzerland hosted the Winter Olympic Youth Games (Jeux Olympiques de la Jeunesse d’Hiver in French). Head-quarters were in Lausanne and competition sites for the seven disciplines were in the Engadin, Jura and Swiss Alps and on sites in the organizing town.
SCSC member Roland Noirat, in collaboration with the local sports MDs of the CHUV (Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois) who were appointed by the IOC to provide and overview the medical service, has obtained the inclusion of chiropractic in the medical organisation at three sites. A dozen chiropractors from the Lausanne region volunteered.
The WYOG is the second-largest winter multi-sport event in the world after the Olympic Games. To have chiropractic present at these games within the framework of the medical team was a privilege for our profession. It was an opportunity to contribute and be part of an exceptional event and live a unique experience.
